Windows Pro 7 Licences now available for Education and Charities

Windows Pro 7 upgrade licenses are available from Microsoft’s volume license schemes (Open, Schools, Campus, etc).

Education, charities and not for profit organisations can order and receive Windows Pro 7 upgrade licenses (although the download won’t be available until 22 October) and continue to utilise Microsoft’s downgrade rights to install Windows Vista or Windows XP.

There are two other options for obtaining Windows 7 (again only after 22 Oct)

• Full packaged product – probably around £200 for the business versions,
• OEM product – probably about £110 for the business versions.  OEM Windows is normally only supplied with a new PC.  (There are some occasions where we can supply under other conditions – call for details)

What can you upgrade to Windows Pro 7 from?

For schools, colleges, universities, charities, museums, not for profit organisations, almost anything!  An enormous advantage to Academic/Charity volume license upgrades (this does not apply to Commercial volume license upgrades) is that you can upgrade from Vista Home Basic or Premium or XP Home & Starter Editions.

You’ve got Windows Pro 7 - What can you downgrade to?

• If you purchased a Windows Pro 7 upgrade licence:
• Almost anything – Windows XP Pro, Vista Business, etc

• If you purchased Windows Pro 7 with a computer (i.e. you’ve an OEM copy):
• Up to 18 months after general release Windows XP Pro, after then, Vista Business.  You would need access to Windows XP media and a license key for this option.
